We are delighted to announce that we have achieved Disability Confident Employer status, marking an important milestone in our commitment to creating a workplace where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
At the heart of Acuity is the belief that diversity strengthens teams, drives innovation, and helps us better support our clients and members. Becoming a Disability Confident Employer reflects the steps we are taking to remove barriers, promote inclusion, and ensure disabled people have equal opportunities to join, develop, and succeed at Acuity.
What Does Disability Confident Employer Status Mean?
The UK Government’s Disability Confident scheme recognises employers who are committed to attracting, recruiting, retaining, and developing disabled people and those with long-term health conditions.
The scheme has three levels:
- Level 1: Disability Confident Committed
- Level 2: Disability Confident Employer
- Level 3: Disability Confident Leader
After becoming a Level 1 Committed employer last year, our new Level 2 status demonstrates that we have moved beyond committing and taken practical action to create a more inclusive workplace and improve accessibility and support for our employees.
How Are We Building a More Inclusive Workplace?
We are continuing to embed inclusive practices across Acuity, ensuring our processes, culture, and ways of working enable everyone to thrive. This includes:
- Creating an inclusive recruitment process that enables candidates to demonstrate their skills and perform at their best.
- Providing reasonable adjustments and tailored support to help employees succeed throughout their careers.
- Building a workplace culture where everyone feels valued, respected, and able to contribute.
- Raising awareness and understanding of disability through shared learning and open conversations.
- Listening to our employees and using their feedback to identify opportunities for further improvement.
Why Does Inclusion Matter?
An inclusive workplace benefits everyone. By embracing different perspectives, experiences, and talents, we build stronger teams, encourage innovation, and create an environment where people can achieve their full potential.
We recognise that disability can be visible or non-visible, permanent or temporary, and we’re committed to ensuring every employee feels supported throughout their career at Acuity.
What’s Next?
While we are proud to have achieved Disability Confident Employer status, we know that creating a truly inclusive workplace requires ongoing commitment and continuous improvement. We will continue to review our practices, invest in our people, and work towards making Acuity an even more accessible and supportive place to work.
We are excited about the future and remain committed to building a workplace where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
While this accreditation recognises the progress we have made, it is our values and the actions we take every day that truly define who we are as an employer. We are proud of what we have achieved and excited about what comes next.
