Community housing associations continue to demonstrate that when it comes to delivering great housing and services, bigger doesn’t always mean better. Our latest Housing for Older People (HfOP) benchmarking results show once again that community-based providers consistently outperform their larger counterparts across key measures: particularly tenant satisfaction, repairs performance, and safety compliance.
Strength in Community
These results highlight the unique strengths of community housing associations: deep local connections, strong relationships with residents, agile decision-making, and a commitment to personalised service. While the sector continues to face complex challenges, from rising costs to the demands of an ageing population, the performance of community organisations is a reminder that scale is not the only path to excellence.
Our Latest Benchmarking Club Meeting
This week, we brought together more than 20 members for our HfOP Benchmarking Club meeting. The session was packed with shared learning, reflective discussion and practical insight. Members explored common issues, shared best practices, reviewed performance trends from 2024/25, and looked ahead to the priority areas for 2026.
Acuity prides itself on creating spaces where providers can learn from one another, understand their performance in context, and build stronger services through collaboration and transparency. The energy, honesty and expertise in the room underscored exactly why these clubs remain so valuable for our members.
A special thanks goes to Nick Chambers, CEO of LACE Housing, for chairing the meeting with his usual wit, wisdom, and panache. His leadership and openness set the tone for a constructive and forward-looking session.
